Customizing the Citrix Client at Installation

I get asked all the time what the process is to create a customized Citrix client installation. I noticed today that Doug Brown published a link to a pretty good article on how to do it. There's quite a bit of configuration that you can do to prepare your client installation to enable it for Active Directory-based installation or through a software deployment solution (like SMS, Altiris, or Enteo).

The gist of the customization is to do a MSIEXEC /A ICA32PKG.MSI to create an administrative installation, running through all the prompts as if you were doing the installation.

One thing that is not posted on this link that I've had problems with in previous client versions (though I haven't tested it with v10.0 yet) is that in order to create a functional "silent" installation for SMS/Altiris/Enteo/etc, you must choose to create an Uncompressed client package. Choosing either the Windows Installer or Compressed versions causes the client upgrade process to crash occasionally. I never had problems with an Uncompressed version.
